This is a survey receiver. It was made by Magnavox / Wild Heerbrung. I think that this was bought out by Leica. The receiver is complete with carring case and tripod mounted survey antenna. My problem is that it will not get a fix. I have not been able to get anything out of the above three companies about this receiver. I suspect it has a Y2K or week 1024 rollover issue. My question is, does anyone know anything about this unit? I bought it at a hamfest. I would like to get the receiver going as it passes all diagnostics, has datalogging capabilities, and appears to be very accurate as it takes into account atmospheric pressure. I have the operators manual for this receiver. I cannot get it to acquire an almanac. Any help/ideas? I guess I could trash the receiver and use the antenna with an Oncore receiver. 73 Glenn WB4UIV --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Glenn Little glittle@awod.com QCWA LM 28417 Amateur Callsign: WB4UIV wb4uiv@amsat.org AMSAT LM 2178 QTH: Goose Creek, SC USA (EM92xx) ARRL TAPR --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- You are currently subscribed to tacgps as: lyris.tacgps@tapr.org To unsubscribe send a blank email to leave-tacgps-6754G@lists.tapr.org From bounce-tacgps-6754@lists.tapr.org Fri Mar 8 01:29:38 2002 Received: from lists.tapr.org (lists.tapr.org [204.17.217.24]) by tapr.org (8.9.3/8.9.3/1.13) with SMTP id BAA03515 for ; Fri, 8 Mar 2002 01:29:26 -0600 (CST) Message-ID: From: "LH Mobilradio A/S" To: "TAPR Special Interest Group" References: Subject: [tacgps] Sv: GPS receiver help Date: Fri, 8 Mar 2002 08:29:57 +0100 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.00.2615.200 List-Unsubscribe: List-Software: Lyris Server version 3.0 List-Subscribe: List-Owner: X-List-Host: Tucson Amateur Packet Radio Reply-To: "TAPR Special Interest Group" X-Message-Id: <002d01c1c673$0cb7df00$0d00a8c0@Danphone> Sender: bounce-tacgps-6754@lists.tapr.org Precedence: bulk Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-MIME-Autoconverted: from quoted-printable to 8bit by tapr.org id BAA03515 Hello Glen I have no experiance in said receiver, but there is a paint possibility that it does not deliver output because is is set such that it requires a RTK/RTCM input before delivering output. As I have a little time on my hands (got laid off), I decided to interface it. The board is the model TU30-D145 software version 1.8. The board appears to have some Y2K problems. If you bring it up in the Rockwell binary mode using LabMon, everything appears to work OK. If you bring it up in the NMEA mode, the time is late by two seconds. The board has a 1 PPS output and its pulse is only 25 mS wide. It also has a 10 Khz output and it shows a short term jitter of around 500 nS. Longterm is fine on both signals. Both lock to GPS, after the receiver locks up to 4 satellites. It has some weird features for position smoothing, position pinning, locking altitude etc. You can boot it in 4 modes; cold start from ROM in NMEA or Rockwell Binary, or boot it from SRAM or EEPROM, in NMEA or binary. The SRAM and EEPROM allows updates, and it will boot faster as it keeps the last satellite data in it. It does not lend itself to changing the modes by software, it has to be done with 2 switches. Then you have to reset the receiver. I appears it will be OK for long term timing, in my case. All I do is watch the drift on a rubidium, and its holding with the Oncore VP (I have a steady 200 nS difference between the two). I read it once a day to determine the drift of the rubidium, which is around 1uS a day. I doubt it would be any good against a cesium or maser, because of the jitter. I can’t complain, I got the board for under $25 at a ham fest. The worst part was finding the technical info on the board. Rockwell sold to Conextant, who sold to SiRF. I found a lot of the technical info on a German internet site. --- You are currently subscribed to tacgps as: lyris.tacgps@tapr.org To unsubscribe send a blank email to leave-tacgps-6754G@lists.tapr.org From bounce-tacgps-6754@lists.tapr.org Tue Mar 26 16:51:14 2002 Received: from lists.tapr.org (lists.tapr.org [204.17.217.24]) by tapr.org (8.9.3/8.9.3/1.13) with SMTP id QAA11662 for ; Tue, 26 Mar 2002 16:51:03 -0600 (CST) From: Jeff King To: "TAPR Special Interest Group" Date: Tue, 26 Mar 2002 17:52:43 -0500 Subject: [tacgps] FS: TAC2, CSI DGPS board, Svee6, others Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" List-Unsubscribe: List-Software: Lyris Server version 3.0 List-Subscribe: List-Owner: X-List-Host: Tucson Amateur Packet Radio Reply-To: "TAPR Special Interest Group" Sender: bounce-tacgps-6754@lists.tapr.org Message-Id: Precedence: bulk Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-MIME-Autoconverted: from quoted-printable to 8bit by tapr.org id QAA11662 Cleaning the shack and I have some stuff I don't need anymore and thought I would offer it to the list.
